Awards to be Presented at the Year-end Holiday Banquet in December.
General
Criteria for Awards:
1.
Project/Program/Design must have been completed or placed in service within 12
months prior to nomination deadline.
2.
Project/Program/Design must be nominated for the award by a member of the High
Desert Branch.
3.
Project/Program/Design must be evaluated and scored the highest by the Awards
Committee.
4.
Project/Program/Design must have been completed by an agency/company within the
area served by the High Desert Branch.
5. Employee must
work for an agency/company within the area served by the High Desert Branch.
Award Categories
and Specific Criteria for Awards:
1. Outstanding
Public Works Project of the Year:
Project may address any aspect of Public Works or administration,
and a description of the project must be submitted with the nomination.
2. Outstanding
Public Works Employee of the Year:
Candidate must work for a public or private firm as an employee.
The employee may be part-time or full-time, but must not be probationary.
Candidates for the award need not be members of APWA.
Candidate
3. Best
Use of Technology:
The nominated example of the best use of technology must
demonstrate a use of technology that is innovative, cost effective, time
saving, and/or unique.
The best use of technology may address any aspect of Public Works
or administration, and a description of the use of technology must be submitted
with the nomination.
4. Best
Improvement for Public Safety:
Improvement may address any aspect of Public Works, including but
not limited to traffic safety, mass transportation, public facilities, or
protection of the environment, and a description of
the improvement and the positive impact on public safety must be submitted with
the nomination.
5. Innovative
Design of the Year:
Design must demonstrate innovation in the application of public
works engineering concepts.
Design may address any aspect of Public Works, including but not
limited to traffic safety, mass transportation, public facilities, or
protection of the environment and a description of the design and the
engineering criteria must be submitted with the nomination.
6. Best
Environmental Project:
Environmental project must demonstrate protection and/or
enhancement of the environment for the public benefit.
The environmental project may address any aspect of the
environment, including but not limited to nature trails, flood protection,
storm water management, habitat protection, groundwater protection, water
treatment and distribution, and wastewater collection and treatment, and a
description of the environmental project must be submitted with the nomination.
